Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you (the parent or legal guardian who created the account) and Dode Yazılım, Türkiye. By creating a LingoBuddy account you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
1. Who may use LingoBuddy
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to create an account. Children use the app through a child profile created and supervised by you. You are responsible for the profiles you create, for the consents you give, and for keeping your parent PIN away from your child.
2. What we provide
LingoBuddy is an English-learning app for children aged 5–12. It uses artificial intelligence to hold spoken conversations, generate and read stories, and score pronunciation. AI output is generated automatically, and while we filter it for child safety on both sides of every conversation, we cannot guarantee it is always accurate. It is a learning aid, not a substitute for a teacher, and not educational, medical or developmental advice.
3. Subscriptions and auto-renewal
LingoBuddy offers a free tier and an optional paid subscription, LingoBuddy Pro, sold as monthly, yearly and family plans.
- The price, billing period and any introductory or trial offer are shown on the subscription screen in the app before you buy, in your local currency.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage and cancel the subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
- If you cancel, access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not pro-rate an unused part of a period.
- Where a free trial is offered, any unused part of it is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, because they, not we, take the payment. We can help you find the right form, but we cannot issue a store refund ourselves.
We may change subscription prices. An increase never applies to a period you have already paid for, and you will be notified through the store before it takes effect, with the chance to cancel.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the app to produce, request or store content that is unlawful, hateful, sexual, violent or otherwise harmful to a child
- attempt to bypass usage limits, the parent PIN, or the safety filters
- reverse engineer, decompile, resell, sublicense or automate access to the app or its servers
- share one account across families to avoid paying for child profiles
We may suspend an account that breaches these terms in a way that puts a child at risk or that materially abuses the service. Where we can do so safely, we will tell you why first.
5. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use LingoBuddy on devices you own or control, for your family’s own non-commercial use. The app, its content, its mascots and its curriculum stay ours. This licence ends when your account is deleted or these terms are terminated.
Where the app is obtained through the Apple App Store, this licence is granted subject to Apple’s Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement, and Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app. Apple and Google are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
6. Your content
Transcripts, recordings and progress created through your family’s use belong to you. You grant us only the licence needed to run the service — to store that data, to send it to the processors listed in the Privacy Policy so the app can transcribe, reply and score, and to show it back to you. We do not use it to train AI models and we do not publish it.
7. Ending the agreement
You may stop at any time by deleting your account in the parent area, which permanently erases your data. We may terminate or suspend the service, with reasonable notice where possible, if we stop operating the app or if you breach section 4.
8. Disclaimers and liability
The app is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that a child will reach any particular level of English.
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect your mandatory statutory rights.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use LingoBuddy after that means you accept the new terms; if you do not, cancel your subscription and delete your account.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, and the courts of İstanbul have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and may bring proceedings there.
